Four Ways to
Light Your Letters.
Start with the look you want. Each style changes where the light appears: on the face, behind the letter, or across its sides.
Images are illustrative product visualizations. Final appearance depends on your confirmed design, materials and installation.
01 / Front-litFront-lit Letters
A bright illuminated face gives your lettering a clear, direct presence. Opaque side returns frame the light and define the depth of each letter.
02 / Halo-litHalo-lit Letters
Light shines onto the wall behind opaque letters, creating a soft halo around their silhouette. The visible finish stays at the center of the design.
03 / Front & Back-litFront & Back-lit Letters
Combine an illuminated face with a rear wall halo. This two-direction lighting effect adds a second layer of light while keeping the side returns opaque.
04 / Full-litFull-lit Letters
Light extends across the face and sides for a luminous dimensional effect. Translucent acrylic brings the depth of the lettering into the illuminated design.
Where Should the Light Go?
Use the lighting direction to narrow down your preferred style, then refine the structure around your artwork and site.
| Lighting style | What lights up | Visual character | Application ideas |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front-lit | Front face | Clear, direct illuminated lettering | Storefront names & retail branding |
| Halo-lit | Wall behind the letter | Metal finish with a soft rear glow | Reception walls & hospitality signage |
| Front & back-lit | Front face + rear halo | Defined face with layered wall lighting | Feature storefronts & brand walls |
| Full-lit | Front face + side surfaces | Luminous letter depth from several angles | Interior displays & custom logo signs |
Here, “full-lit” means face-and-side illumination. Rear illumination is specified separately. Wall color, surface texture, mounting distance and ambient light influence the final effect.

A Few Useful
Answers.
Choosing a lighting effect, preparing artwork and planning your installation.
What is the difference between front & back-lit and full-lit letters?+
Front & back-lit letters combine an illuminated face with a halo on the wall behind them; the sides are usually opaque. On this page, full-lit letters have illuminated faces and sides. If you also want rear illumination, include that in your enquiry so the structure can be discussed.
Can you work from my logo or chosen font?+
Send your logo or lettering together with the approximate overall size. Vector artwork such as AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF is useful. A reference image or sketch can also be a starting point; fine strokes and small details need to be reviewed against the proposed construction.
Can LED channel letters be used outdoors?+
Outdoor suitability depends on the materials, construction, electrical components and site exposure. Tell us where the sign will be installed. Any required ingress protection rating, electrical certification or other project standard should be stated and confirmed in the quotation.
Can I customize the face color and lighting color?+
Include your preferred daytime appearance, illuminated color and finish reference. Face material and LED color work together to create the final appearance. For front & back-lit letters, specify the face and halo colors separately.
How are the letters mounted and powered?+
The arrangement depends on the letter structure and installation surface. Share a site photo and wall details so mounting points, standoffs or a support panel can be reviewed. Confirm power supply location, cable routing, installation documents and included accessories before ordering. Final mounting and electrical connection should be handled by your local installer.
What affects the price and production time?+
Size, letter count, logo complexity, materials, finishes, lighting configuration, quantity and packing requirements all affect the quotation. Send the destination and required delivery date as well, so production timing and shipping options can be discussed for your project.
Do you support sign shops and OEM orders?+
For trade enquiries, include your drawings, quantities and any labeling, packaging or documentation requirements. Production scope, branding requirements and delivery terms should be agreed as part of the quotation.
